Just to start the ball rolling here:

The volume of digital evidence can be huge. This is self-evident when you consider that hard disk and flash memory sizes increase by doubling every couple of years and network throughput increases and a similar rate.

Some obvious areas where large amounts of data are involved (to a humble engineer) are :-

PC Hard disks

mail files

network and telephony logs

CCTV image data
